Whatcom County Annual Ski to Sea Race, May 27, 2012

The culmination of Whatcom County’s yearly Ski to Sea Festival is a 90+ mile (145km) relay race  consisting of seven different venues and seven different sports. Starting from 10,700′ Mount Baker and ending at Bellingham Bay, the Ski to Sea race has become known worldwide and each year numerous teams from abroad travel to Whatcom County to compete. Last year’s race totaled 500 teams of eight persons each, and a total of 78,000 spectators attended the event.

The Festival also includes a parade (May 26), a community block party (May 25) with music and food, a Junior Race (May 18-19),  a carnival (May 22-27), Fairhaven’s  race-day street festival (May 27), and a variety of other events that will provide fun and entertainment for young and old alike.  For complete information about the race and associated events visit skitosea.com
