We could argue all day and night over steins of brew as to what it means to hold Oktoberfest in September, or whether the average attendee has beer or “family fun day” on his/her mind as he/she sets of for that Bohemian village across the bridge from Ballard. But such would be purely academic; the fact of the matter is that Fremont’s annual observance of Oktoberfest is almost here, and be ye a beerhead or a lederhosen/pigtail enthusiast, or merely someone looking for good, wholesome family fun with Bavarian overtones, then Fremont is the place to be this weekend. For the adults there is good beer and grub to be had (although I’ll not go so far as to promise you world-class sauerbraten, and my guess is that traditional Wienerschnitzel would get you beaten about the head and shoulders in Fremont, at least figuratively), and for the kids there’s the “Zucchini 500″ decorating and racing affair, lederhosen-making,  root beer tasting, face painting and more! And then, there’s the “Texas Chainsaw Pumpkin Carving Contest….”
